Mashed potatoes

Presentation

There is no Italian cuisine where mashed potatoes are not prepared at least once a week. Its goodness and ease of preparation have made this dish one of the favorite side dishes of Italian families. In this recipe I present the quick but no less good version. Try this fluffy potato cloud too!

Ingredients:

  • 600 grams of potatoes (preferably yellow)
  • 160 grams of milk
  • 50 grams of butter
  • nutmeg to taste
  • fine salt to taste

Preparation:

Puree preparation

1 Put the potatoes in a saucepan with cold water, then light the fire and boil them for about 40 minutes from when the water begins to boil. To make sure the potatoes are cooked you have to pierce them with a fork, if it goes in easily then they are cooked. 2 Once the potatoes are cooked, mash them with a potato masher and 3 add the hot milk a little at a time making it absorbed by the mashed potatoes, mixing with a spoon.

Preparing the puree

4 Once the milk has been absorbed, add the cubes of butter and 5 mix vigorously until they are completely absorbed, thus obtaining a very soft consistency. 6 At this point add salt according to your taste.

Finishing and plating

7 As a final touch add a little nutmeg. 8 Serve your mashed potatoes still hot accompanied by whatever you prefer, 9 I made some pan-seared mushrooms. Enjoy your meal!

Advise

  • If you want to make the mashed potatoes a little richer you can add 20g of grated parmesan.
